ENHANCED USER EXPERIENCE
Rich Internet Applications offer enhanced end user experience by creating interfaces that are straightforward, intuitive and easy to use. A fully interactive User Experience combined with streamlined back-end processing are the fundamentals of what makes up a Rich Internet Application (RIA). The typical RIAs offer slick front ends that combine user interactivity with real-time feedback, while facilitating the representation of complex business logic and processing through dynamically adaptive content RIAs are faster, more responsive, and much more efficient than traditional Multi-Tier DHTML Applications.
STREAMLINED DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
Not only do RIAs streamline the back-end processing, but they also speed
the developmental process by building interactive interfaces before
beginning actual server development. The users and design team can
better visualize and evaluate the application interaction right at
the start. This process can address problems up front; better meet
the expectations of the user and ultimately save development time.
Additionally, prototypes built with Adobe® Flex are able to simulate “real-time” backend
integration. In contrast, the now out-dated HTML prototype often uses
a backend mock-up which requires lots of hard-coding interactivity
and data access work which is not typically reusable in the production
environment.
STREAMLINED DEVELOPMENT PROCESS
B-Line's RIA technologies offer businesses significant financial incentive by cutting the total cost of ownership. In comparison with standard HTML applications, RIAs have significantly lower server and network costs. In comparison with client/server applications, RIAs offer dramatically lower deployment costs - financial and logistical - on an ongoing basis. Many companies are over-spending on legacy client/server applications because they have not been able to create applications with a robust enough user experience. Not so with B-Line RIA technologies. Businesses are demanding higher productivity at a lower cost, and Rich Internet Applications provide a sound solution.
DEMANDING MORE FROM TECHNOLOGIES
Rich Internet Applications (RIAs) usage is increasing exponentially at a time when businesses are demanding more productivity and higher returns on investments. Additionally, customers have come to expect a certain level of sophistication in their user experience and in today's market; the user experience defines a customer's perception of a business. Until recently, RIAs were having difficulty meeting the demands of businesses and customers. Most RIAs solutions relied on technologies such as Java and DHTML and were browser and/or platform specific, making them difficult to build and cumbersome to use.
THE RIA TECHNOLOGY REVOLUTION
The recent release of Adobe®'s CS3 and Flex technologies greatly accelerates
the process for developing and deploying RIAs. With CS3 and Flex, It
is now possible to deliver sophisticated and interactive interfaces
through the Flash player, establish real-time communications using Flash
Communication Server, and dynamically populate the data and content
with Flash Remoting, Web Services, and XML. With your choice of almost
any back-end technology (J2EE, Java, ASP, .NET, CFMX, JSP, PHP) tied
to any database (Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Access), the
potential solutions are boundless.

The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) is a non-profit organization, established to promote an environment free of commercial vehicle accidents and incidents. Their mission is to promote commercial motor vehicle safety and security by providing leadership to enforcement, industry and policy makers.
